Grandma Chumley’s Baked Popcorn

Sticky, but tasty version of caramel corn. Grandma's baked popcorn is great for snacks anytime of the year.

Total Time: Approximately 1 hour and 15 minutes

Makes:
Between 6 and 7 Quarts 

Ingredients For Caramel Sauce:
2 Sticks of margarine
1/2 cup White Corn Syrup
2 cups Brown Sugar
1/4 teaspoon Cream of Tartar
1 teaspoon Baking Soda
1 teaspoon Salt

Directions:
*
Pop 6 to 7 quarts of popcorn.

* Mix margarine, syrup and brown sugar in saucepan over medium high heat to a boil.
* Cook for six minutes, stirring constantly.
* Add the cream of tartar, baking soda and salt and stir until foamy.

* Pour over popcorn and mix to coat.
* Spread in two jellyroll pans or one large roaster and bake for one hour at 200 degrees.
* Remove from oven and break apart and store in airtight container.
