Camper's
Stew
It is the end of the year … out with the old in
with the new. Well, maybe not. I was recently
looking through some of my old recipe books at
many of the old tried and true recipes that have
been favorites over the years. The recipes are
somewhat similar to today’s, but it is
interesting to see the different style of how
they were written. If you try this one out, let
us know what you think of it.
This month’s recipe is direct from one of my
older books, one that features recipes submitted
from people in the area where we lived many
years ago. Here it is, as written.
Take tin foil sheets about size of dinner plate
– one for each person. Make a big hamburger
patty and place on tin foil. Slice onion over
top, slice potatoes over top, a slice of tomato,
cover with cabbage leaf. Salt and pepper.
Carrots may also be sliced on. Wrap. Wrap again
in heavy-duty foil. Then place on hot charcoal
for 1 hour, turning every 15 minutes. Delicious!
